Public Engagement

We are listening

We value the perspectives of everyone who may be impacted by decisions about the delivery of safe, reliable, environmentally responsible electricity. Over the past year we have talked with many interested parties engaged and represented through the regulatory process, but we wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to share their thoughts with us. We launched two engagements, an open digital survey and a follow up survey with our feedback panel both focused on reliability, cost, investment, growth, clean energy, and options for new sources of electricity.

We committed to reporting back on what was said and we have made the full report available.

What was said

We really appreciate that many of you took time to share your thoughts with us. A lot has been said, and we’ve been listening. You’ve been very clear. The rising cost of living, including electricity rates, is a concern.

Top themes:
• Customers are concerned about the cost of living, particularly for seniors.
• Customers prioritize lowest impact on electricity rates.
• Reliable electricity is non-negotiable, but customers do not want to pay more.
• Customers recognize we have a reliable system from renewable sources.
• There is a lack of trust in utilities and misinformation about corporate policies.
• Muskrat Falls has not been forgotten.
• Many don’t feel informed enough to offer an opinion on some topics.
• Polarization on climate action and need for clean energy.
• Most agree we need to prepare for growing electricity needs.
• No consensus on options for new sources of electricity.
