In early 2025, the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) Ambassador Network was established. Serving as a working group of employee volunteers from across the company and province, it actively champions and implements internal equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives based on Hydro’s IDEA Strategy and Accessibility Plan. The mandate for the Ambassadors is to increase awareness about the value of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility at Hydro.

During the IDEA Ambassadors team’s first year, it organized a number of inaugural events, including Hydro’s first Pride walk in Churchill Falls. This milestone event, provided a welcoming space for inclusion and community connection, and is expected to become an annual tradition. The IDEA Ambassadors also hosted Hydro’s first Multicultural Fair in Hydro Place, celebrating some of the many diverse cultures within our workforce through interactive activities, performances, and local partnerships – helping to strengthen Hydro’s connection to the broader community.

The IDEA Ambassadors also supported and promoted a broad range of information and awareness. A sample of the many days recognized included IDEA Day, Pink Shirt Day, Black History Month, Autism Acceptance and Understanding, National Indigenous People’s Day, Veterans’ Week, the Purple Ribbon Campaign, and International Day of Persons with Disabilities. These sustained efforts ensured that IDEA principles remained visible, relevant, and embedded within Hydro’s culture year-round. Going forward, their teamwork, commitment, and vision will continue to make Hydro a more inclusive, equitable and welcoming place.
