Sustainable Electricity Leader
September 25, 2026
Hydro has once again successfully achieved Electricity Canada’s Sustainable Electricity Leader Designation, reaffirming our commitment to sustainability, transparency and continuous improvement. Hydro is one of only 10 of Electricity Canada’s 45 member companies to hold the designation.
Awarded through a third-party verified process, the Sustainable Electricity Leader Designation recognizes electricity companies that demonstrate leadership in sustainability and a commitment to continuous improvement. The designation is based on internationally recognized guidance for social responsibility and supports transparency and accountability across the electricity sector.
As Newfoundland and Labrador’s Crown utility, Hydro is committed to operating responsibly while delivering safe, reliable electricity to customers throughout the province. Sustainability remains an important consideration in how we plan, operate and deliver on our mandate.
“Achievements like this don’t happen because of a survey or a report. They happen because of the people behind them. I’m grateful to our employees across the province whose commitment, expertise and hard work continue to help Hydro operate responsibly and utilize our precious resources in a sustainable way. They take it personally and it shows.” Gail Collins, VP, People and Corporate Affairs.
