Public Advisory: Extended outage planned for Labrador West on June 14

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro would like to advise customers in Labrador West of a planned, extended outage taking place on Sunday, June 14.
This extended outage is needed in order for Hydro crews to safely conduct critical annual maintenance and equipment upgrades at the Wabush terminal station, on the transmission lines from Churchill Falls, and on the distribution system in the Labrador West area. Completing this work safely and properly requires that power lines and terminal stations are “de-energized”.
To prepare for this, some customers in Labrador City will experience a brief outage on Thursday, June 11 and Saturday, June 13 for approximately one hour. Please see table below for full details.

Please note: Dates, times and affected customers are subject to change.
Power may need to be dropped for more customers in Labrador City if the electrical load becomes more than can be supplied through the backup power on June 14. We will notify customers through our Facebook and X pages should this be required.
To help us avoid this, we are asking customers in Labrador City to adjust their electrical usage on June 14 by doing things such as:
- Limiting hot water usage (dishwashers, clothes washers, long showers)
- Limiting use of clothes dryers
- Reducing use of air conditioners
- Unplugging unused small appliances or equipment
- Paying particular attention to use during peak times of 7-10 a.m.
