Update: Power outage advisory – Great Northern Peninsula (Feb.5, 2013)

February 5, 2013, 11:30 a.m. – Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is reporting power outages to some customers on the Great Northern Peninsula.
All customers in L’anse Au Meadows, Hay Cove, Notty Bay and Straights View have been experiencing an outage since approximately 11:00 p.m. last night, Feb.4. Some customers between St. Lunaire Griquet to Quirpon also continue to experience a power outage.
Due to extreme high winds and blowing snow, crews were unable to be dispatched until early this morning. Crews have identified an issue with a power transformer near St. Lunaire Griquet serving these communities. A replacement transformer is currently being transported and power is expected to be restored late afternoon. Customers in this area who currently have power are advised that they may experience momentary outages as crews complete work to replace the power transformer. Power was restored this morning before 9:00 a.m. to customers in Red Bay and Pinware, Southern Labrador after losing power at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night, Feb.4. Customers in Castor River South were restored by approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning.
Customers in all communities in Southern Labrador and the GNP may experience intermittent outages today due to continuing high winds.
