Supply and Demand
Hydro is the province’s primary supplier of electricity, our generation assets on the island include six hydroelectric plants (Bay d’Espoir, Cat Arm, Granite Canal, Hinds Lake, Paradise River, and Upper Salmon), the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station, combustion turbines (St. John’s and Stephenville), and two diesel plants (Hawke’s Bay and St. Anthony). We also purchase power from some non-utility generators.

Current system generation = current demand on the system
Any generation from non-utility generators, including Star Lake, Rattle Brook, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper, and wind generation from the St. Lawrence and Fermeuse wind farms, is included in our Hydro System Generation.
