Supply and Demand

As the province’s primary supplier of electricity, our generation assets on the island include six hydroelectric plants (Bay d’Espoir, Cat Arm, Granite Canal, Hinds Lake, Paradise River, and Upper Salmon), the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station, three combustion turbines (St. John’s and Stephenville), and two diesel plants (Hawke’s Bay and St. Anthony). We also purchase power from some non-utility generators.
