December 2nd, 2016

December 2, 2016

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that while the release of water has ceased in some areas, the need for water releases continues in others.

  • Jackson’s Arm and White Bay area on Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula. The Company is no longer releasing water from its Cat Arm Spillway into the Cat Arm River. There is a potential for additional releases should weather conditions change.
  • Star Lake in Central Newfoundland. The Company continues to release water at Star Lake Spillway into Star Brook and then Red Indian Lake. ·
  • Jeddore Lake and Bay d’Espoir areas in Southern Newfoundland. The Company is no longer releasing water at the Salmon River Spillway. There is a potential for additional releases should weather conditions change.

People are advised to use these areas with great caution as water levels and flows are higher than normal and may be unpredictable.
