Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro wishes to inform customers in the Rigolet area that we experienced an issue at our facility this morning, which resulted in a unit coming offline and some black exhaust smoke in the area.

Due to high loads during peak times, we are asking residents of Rigolet to conserve power between 7-10 a.m. and 4-8 p.m.

Our teams are working to source a replacement for that unit, and there is no increased risk of fire and our current generation is sufficient to supply residents for the moment.

We will provide updates should the situation change.
