Update: Notice to customers on Avalon: Power Watch Lifted

February 16th, 2016

Update: The Power Watch is no longer in effect for the Avalon Peninsula.

Previous Advisory – Feb 14

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising customers on the Avalon Peninsula that there is a short term Power Watch in effect for the next 24 – 48 hours.

System demand is forecast to be high during peak periods over the next couple of days, particularly Monday evening between 4:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. as cold weather moves into the Island.  As well, two units at the Holyrood Generating Station are currently operating at a reduced capacity.

No immediate action is required for customers, however the electricity system is being monitored closely and Hydro will advise if anything changes.

A conservation request is not currently in effect but customers are being asked to be prepared to conserve in the event of a status change.

This advisory is part of Hydro’s ongoing commitment to keeping customers more informed and educated on the status of the electricity system and system events.
