Members of our Churchill Falls team accept the Resilient Communities award from Public Safety Canada
February 27, 2025
On February 26, Members of our Churchill Falls team were honoured to accept the 2024-2025 Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award from Public Safety Canada in the Resilient Communities Category.
This award recognizes the true resilience shown by the community in their response to the wildfires which approached the town of Churchill Falls in June of 2024 . These wildfires threatened the town, as well as the many assets which support our provincial electricity system. As they faced the unknown and unpredictable, the response, innovation and coordination from our teams was beyond what could have ever been expected and we are grateful for this recognition of their efforts.

“As wildfires rapidly approached their town, the community of Churchill Falls showed true strength and resilience. With support from colleagues across Hydro and Government, they pulled together and pushed boundaries to ensure the safety of every employee and resident as well as the security of our provincial electricity system. They showed us the true Power of Community and I’m so pleased to see them receive this well-deserved recognition.”
