Hydro and employees donate $58,000 to school breakfast programs in Newfoundland and Labrador
October 10, 2024
For over 20 years, Hydro has proudly partnered with Kids Eat Smart Newfoundland & Labrador in support of school breakfast programs in the province.
Each year, our Energy Breakfast with Kids Eat Smart is one of the many ways employees show support for the communities where they live and work. During the week-long event, Hydro teams across the province come together to collect healthy food items or make a monetary donation, then drop items off at schools from Labrador City to St. John’s.
With the incredible generosity of our employees, combined with our annual corporate donation, this year Hydro was able to donate $58,767 to our partners at Kids Eat Smart in support of school breakfast programs around the province!
A special shout out goes to the Hydro team at the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station, who raised over $16,000 for this year’s Energy Breakfast. That’s energy from the heart!
More than 40,000 breakfasts are provided to school children free of charge, every day, and in almost every school in the province, through Kids Eat Smart breakfast programs. Every $1 raised gives a child breakfast – so the support of initiatives like the annual Energy Breakfast goes a long way to giving kids a nutritious start to their day.
Each year, Hydro employees are proud to join representatives with Kids Eat Smart Newfoundland and Labrador, teachers and administrators at schools around the province during the annual Energy Breakfast, in support of local school breakfast programs.
Thank you to Hydro’s Community Champions Network and volunteer coordinators in regional offices who organized donations and local school drop-offs – and to everyone who took the time to make a donation. Thanks for being the energy our communities can count on!
