In February 2025, Hydro was invited to present at Energy NL’s Diversity & Inclusion Day, themed “Reenergize the conversation”. The day brought together leaders, experts and industry professionals for a day of dialogue. Amanda McClafferty, Hydro’s Engagement and Diversity Lead, shared Hydro’s approach to developing and implementing its Accessibility Plan, outlining how legislation and best practices informed the work, how employee and community input helped shape priorities, and how collaboration across the organization, including an Accessibility Committee and executive sponsorship, supporting accountability and sustained progress.

Through this speaking engagement, Hydro contributed to industry conversations about barrier removal and inclusive practices, reinforcing the importance of partnering with people with lived experience and embedding accessibility into planning, communications and customer service. Participation in Energy NL’s event also supported Hydro’s broader Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) commitments by sharing practical insights that other workplaces can adapt in their own inclusion and accessibility efforts.
