Previous Advisory:

March 21, 2018

Friday, March 23 beginning at midnight to approximately 6:00AM, Saturday March 24

Transmission line work is scheduled for the Upper Lake Melville area this weekend. Back-up generation will be used to provide power while the work is carried out, however, with high customer demand there is a possibility that customers will experience an outage.

We know that any work to maintain the electricity system can have an impact on our customers, and we fully understand the inconvenience this causes. We have made every effort to plan this work to minimize disruption and have scheduled the work during the overnight hours to reduce impact on customers as much as possible.

We are reminding homeowners and businesses in the area to please be prepared for the potential for service disruptions during this time.

How Can You Help?

To keep electricity demand lower during this period and help avoid outages, we are asking customers in the area to conserve energy and limit electricity use between midnight on Friday March 23 and 6:00AM Saturday, March 24.

  • Minimize your use of hot water by avoiding running dishwashers, showers, etc. during that period
  • Avoid using clothes washers and dryers
  • Turn electric heat down a few degrees
  • Switch off lights, appliances and electronics that aren’t in use

Thank you for your cooperation and efforts to help conserve during this time. Again, we appreciate your understanding and patience as we carry out this necessary work. Visit nlhydro.com/outages for outage notices and updates, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more information.
