Annual Vegetation Management Program begins in May
Vegetation growth along our power lines, access roads and terminal stations is a safety concern to both Hydro crews and the public. Trees are excellent electricity conductors and can cause safety risks like fire and outages when they come into contact or grow too close to power lines.
Hydro’s Vegetation Management Plan helps to control vegetation in order to maintain the safety and reliability of our lines including manual brush clearing, tree trimming and the selective use of herbicides.
This year’s program begins in May and is expected to run until October, pending weather and vegetation conditions.
