Newfoundland Labrador Hydro (NL Hydro) would like to inform the public about the proposed life extension work on Goodyear’s Dam. This work is part of the Goodyear’s Life Extension Project that will help ensure continued safe and reliable energy generation at the Grand Falls Hydroelectric Plant. Goodyear’s Dam is located on the Exploit’s River, approximately 3.5 kilometers upstream of the Grand Falls Hydroelectric plant located in Grand Falls-Windsor. The proposed Project is scheduled to occur over a three-year period that will involve buttressing across the entire overflow spillway, as well as installation of a new vertical slot concrete fishway on the South side of the structure.

As part of on-going Project planning and design, NL Hydro will be holding an open house at the Mount Peyton Resort and Conference Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on February 11, 2026, from 2:00-4:30pm and 6:00-8:30pm, and would welcome and value your attendance at these engagement sessions. Information on the Project will be available and team members will be there to listen to feedback and answer questions.
