We’re excited to get Phase II of the Ultra-Fast charging network off the ground and we’re looking for interest from Site Hosts across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Planned Locations for Ultra-Fast Charging
On the island of Newfoundland, we’re seeking five locations to install two Ultra-Fast chargers at each site.
In Southern Labrador, we’re seeking two locations to install two fast chargers at each site. These chargers are designed to power up electric vehicles in under 30 minutes, making them ideal for drivers on the go.


NOTE: This project is contingent upon Hydro receiving approval of from the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities. If for any reason this approval not granted, this RFP and project may be modified or cancelled at any time before construction begins and Hydro shall be under no obligation to enter into a Land Lease Agreement with any Host Site.

Is Your Location a Fit for Our EV Charging Network?
We’re expanding our Ultra-Fast EV charging network across Newfoundland and Labrador and are looking for site hosts in seven key locations. If you operate an existing business with 24/7 public access, your site could be a great fit.
We’re especially interested in locations that offer nearby amenities—such as coffee shops, restaurants, rest stops, or municipal parks and walking trails. Proximity to major highways and high-traffic routes is also a strong advantage.
We plan to install chargers in late 2026 so get your applications in by September 30, 2025.

FAQ
Is there any compensation offered for Site Hosts?
No, Hydro does not offer compensation to Site Hosts. We are looking for partnerships with existing businesses and municipalities who will benefit from increased foot traffic to their establishment or community.
What is Required of Site Hosts?
See attached technical documents for the island and Labrador for additional details however, we are seeking 10-year agreements with Site Hosts who will be responsible for snow clearing, and general property maintenance (ex. Grass cutting). Many of Hydro’s chargers are located in existing Site Host parking lots so there is minimal additional maintenance required. Site Hosts are also required to maintain sufficient levels of insurance.
What Happens After I Apply?
After you submit your application, Hydro will review your location for its suitability and impact on the project. Factors such as access to three phase commercial power, site layout for EV charging equipment, and access to amenities for travelers. If your site is passes this initial screening, we will reach out to arrange a site visit.
