Update On Controlled Release Of Water At Star Lake And Cat Arm
June 20, 2019
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that due to recent high inflows and forecast rain there is an ongoing requirement for releases of water in one location and a potential for releases in another.
At Star Lake in Central Newfoundland, the Company is continuing to release water at Star Lake Spillway into Star Brook and then Red Indian Lake.
In the Jackson’s Arm and White Bay area on Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula, forecast rain and ongoing snow melt may lead to a requirement for the Company to start releasing water at the Cat Arm Spillway into the Cat Arm River.
People are advised to use these areas with great caution as water levels and flows are unpredictable.
