Update 6:30 p.m.: Power Outage Advisory – Great Northern Peninsula
February 5, 2013, 6:30 p.m. – Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is reporting power outages to some customers on the Great Northern Peninsula. Weather conditions have deteriorated in the last few hours, causing delays in power restoration efforts.
St. Lunaire-Griquet & surrounding communities
Crews are continuing to work to restore power to as many customers as possible in L’anse Au Meadows, Hay Cove, Notty Bay and Straights View, as well as some remaining customers between St. Lunaire-Griquet to Quirpon. Hydro is advising that some customers may experience an extended outage into tomorrow.
Flower’s Cove north to Eddie’s Cove East
Power has been restored for the majority of customers in this area. Crews continue to work to restore power to customers in Pine’s Cove, Nameless Cove, Lower Cove, Green Island Cove and Green Island Brook
All communities
Customers in all communities in Southern Labrador and the GNP may experience intermittent outages into tomorrow due to continuing high winds and storm conditions.
Crews will continue to work to restore power until later this evening until they reach a mandatory rest period. Hydro apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates the patience of its customers.
