February 6, 2013, 6:30 a.m. – Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is reporting power outages to some customers on the Great Northern Peninsula.All customers in L’anse Au Meadows, Hay Cove, Gunners Cove, Notty Bay, Straights  View, St. Lunaire-Griquet and Quirpon remain without power. Power had been restored to some customers in these communities last evening, however additional equipment issues caused an outage to all customers at approximately 10:30 p.m.

All customers in St. Carol’s and Great Brehat also lost power at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night.Crews reached a mandatory rest period at approximately 11:00 p.m. last night. These rest periods are important to ensure crews can safety undertake power restoration efforts. Crews will begin work again early this morning to investigate the cause of the outages that occurred last night and work to restore power.

An update regarding restoration times will be provided when more information becomes available. Customers in all communities in Southern Labrador and the GNP are advised that they may experience intermittent outages today due to continuing high winds and storm conditions.
