Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising the public of continuing blasting and drilling operations in an established quarry in the south side of Menihek starting June 14th and anticipated until November, 2025. This is part of the Dyke Rip Rap Refurbishment project and will help to ensure the continued safe and reliable delivery of power and energy to the Schefferville area.

As a part of the project, there will be small blasts 1-2 times per week until completion. Access to the blasting area will be controlled to prevent unauthorized entry and a warning signal will be sounded prior to each blast. Once the blast is complete and the area has been deemed safe to enter, an all-clear signal will be given.
