Public Safety Advisory – Vandalism and theft at Stoneybrook Terminal Station

July 8, 2015 – Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is investigating an act of vandalism and theft at the Stoneybrook Terminal Station in Central Newfoundland.

On the evening of July 6, 2015 an individual or individuals illegally entered the terminal station causing damage to fencing and equipment and stealing copper wiring which was connected to energized electrical equipment.

This type of activity is very concerning and extremely dangerous.

Such acts put our employees, our customers, the general public and the vandals themselves at serious safety risk. The danger associated with unauthorized entry and damage to electricity equipment, structures and facilities cannot be understated. These types of activities can result in serious injury or death.

Hydro personnel are cooperating with the RCMP on this matter and people are urged to come forward with any information they may have related to this incident. In addition, people are reminded to obey all signs and warnings around Hydro facilities and equipment.
