August 5, 2013 –Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents, cabin owners and travelers that higher than normal water levels continue in many of its reservoir systems.
Controlled releases are occurring in the Granite Canal and Grey River areas of Central and Southern Newfoundland. The Company wishes to advise that controlled releases have begun at the Granite Canal spillways and there is water over the road to Burnt Dam. The Granite Canal bypass structure will be opened later today (August 5).
Controlled releases may soon be required at Burnt Dam Spillway into the White Bear River in Central and Southern Newfoundland.
The potential for controlled water releases from the Victoria Dam Spillway into the Victoria River in south western Newfoundland is over for now.
