Public Safety Advisory for the Controlled Release of Water (December 15, 2013)

December 15, 2013

December 15, 2013 – Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that reservoir levels and channel flows are still high at its facilities.

The Company has stopped l releasing water at Star Lake Spillway into Star Brook in Central Newfoundland.

All other releases have also ceased, however there is a potential that releases will again be required at:

• Jackson’s Arm and White Bay area on Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula at the Cat Arm Spillway

People are advised to use these areas with great caution as water levels and flows are higher than normal and may be unpredictable. Water releases at spillways could begin or end at any time.
