Public safety advisory for controlled release of water updated (October 15, 2013)
October 15, 2013
October 15, 2013 – Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that controlled releases of water from its reservoirs have ceased for the time being.
Reservoir levels are still above normal for this time of year and there is potential for additional releases in the following areas:
- Upper Salmon area of Central Newfoundland. The Company may be required to release water from its North Salmon Dam Spillway into the North Salmon River.
- Jackson’s Arm and White Bay area on Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula.
The Company may begin releasing at Cat Arm Spillway into the Cat Arm River.
People are advised to use these areas with great caution as water levels and flows continue to be higher than normal and may be unpredictable.
