Update: Public Safety Advisory – Controlled Release of Water, Star Lake and Upper Salmon

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that due to high reservoir levels resulting from spring snow melt, the company has started releasing water at the Star Lake Spillway into Star Brook and then Beothuk Lake.

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is also advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that its controlled water release in Upper Salmon area of Central Newfoundland is still ongoing. The Company is continuing to release water from its North Salmon Dam spillway into the North Salmon River.

People are advised to use these areas with great caution as water levels and flows will be higher than normal and may be unpredictable.

Hydro is also advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that its controlled water release in Upper Salmon area of Central Newfoundland is still ongoing. We are continuing to release water from the North Salmon Dam spillway into the North Salmon River.
