Public Safety Advisory – Controlled Release of Water (July 2, 2014)
July 2, 2014
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising residents, cabin owners and travellers that high water levels persist in some reservoirs and that releases of water are still required:
- In the Star Lake area of Central Newfoundland, the Company is releasing water at Star Lake Spillway into Star Brook and then Red Indian Lake.
- In the Upper Salmon area of Central Newfoundland the Company is releasing water from its North Salmon Dam spillway into the North Salmon River.
Releases at the Victoria Dam Spillway into the Victoria River in Southwestern Newfoundland and at Cat Arm Spillway into the Cat Arm River in the Jackson’s Arm and White Bay area on the Great Northern Peninsula have ended for now but could begin again.
People are advised to continue to use these areas with great caution as water levels and flows are higher than normal and unpredictable.
