Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising customers that at 11:34   p.m. on December 30th, one of three generating units at its Holyrood generating station tripped.  As a result, Hydro was required to rebalance its power supply which meant the loss of power to customers. Power supply has since been restored from other available generation.

This issue is isolated to unit three and the cause is under investigation. We will continue to update customers as more information becomes available.

Hydro assures it’s customers that it has generation available to meet demand and we thank you for your understanding.
