Public Advisory – Possible Telephone Fraud
Please be advised that there have been recent reports of a telephone based fraud. The reports indicate callers are identifying themselves as calling from Nalcor or Newfoundland Power and requesting payment for their power bill. The caller demands the person provide their credit card information.
Customers are advised to be cautious and ensure they can verify the identify of persons calling prior to providing any personal information.
To report any activity that appears to be fraudulent, call Phone Busters (a branch of the Anti Fraud Centre of Canada) at 1-888-495-8501.
