Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro would like to advise residents and visitors of Little Bay Islands that decommissioning work on the electricity system assets is set to begin in the coming weeks. A contractor will be mobilizing some equipment to the community over the coming days, with work expected to begin during the first week of October.

Work will be occurring across the community, on multiple sites, to remove all assets of the distribution system, including poles, conductor, and home disconnects as well as the full diesel plant and all associated plant equipment.

In order to ensure the safety of all involved, Hydro is asking people to keep a safe distance from construction zones. Heavy equipment will be working at multiple sites to complete the decommissioning work as quickly, and safely as possible and with minimal disruption.

The decommissioning work is expected to take approximately 4 weeks to complete.
