Public Advisory: Contractors mobilizing to start right-of-way clearing on new transmission line (TL271) from Star Lake Terminal Station to Valentine Gold Project
October 7, 2022
In preparation of TL271 construction from Star Lake Terminal Station to the Valentine Gold Project mine site, contractors have begun mobilizing crews and equipment to site. With this, heavy equipment and oversized loads will be travelling on the Buchans Highway, Millertown Road, Star Lake Road, and other nearby access roads leading to the construction area – approximately 52 km southwest from the town of Millertown and 45 km southwest from the town of Buchans. Safety signage and traffic personnel will be in place where required.
Locke’s Electrical Limited will be constructing the new 45 km long wood pole transmission line, with its subcontractor, Newfoundland and Labrador Vegetation Management, clearing the 20 m wide transmission line right-of-way (ROW). Clearing activities have started and work is expected to continue through Fall.
For your safety and the safety of our workers, we ask you to use caution when travelling or hunting in this area. It is important to always be aware of your surroundings and remember that hunting is not permitted in active construction zones.
