Power restored to majority of customers on Great Northern Peninsula. Outage advisory still in place for Plum Point area and Norris Point – 7:45 a.m. (Feb.18, 2013)

February 17, 2013, 9:30 p.m. – Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is reporting power outages to some customers on the Great Northern Peninsula. Due to a severe winter storm creating unsafe working conditions for crews, approximately 5400 customers north from Sally’s Cove will experience an extended into tomorrow. Intermittent outages began in this area late this afternoon, and crews responded until weather conditions deteriorated.
Crews will start work again tomorrow morning when weather conditions improve. Another update will be provided at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow once crews assess the work required to restore power. For a list of communities currently without power, visit https://my.nlhydro.com/portal/PreLogOutages.aspx
