Power was restored in the isolated community of La Poile at noon today.

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro crew flew by helicopter along the transmission line from Grand Bruit to La Poile (which spans about a 50 km rugged area) this morning. Damage on the line was found 2 to 3 kilometers east of the community. High winds caused the neutral conductor to break from its mounting bracket and come in contact with the primary conductor in the high winds. This caused the protection equipment to operate, resulting in the outage. All repairs have been completed.

Hydro crews had been on stand by since the outage began at approximately 7:45 p.m Sunday evening but high winds and poor weather hampered efforts to travel to the small community.
