Power restoration efforts continue on Fogo Island: Possible extended outage into tomorrow (Jan.19, 2013 – 7:30 p.m.)

January 19, 2013, 7:30 p.m. – Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro (Hydro) wishes to advise
all customers on Fogo Island of a possible extended outage into tomorrow.

Following an outage at approximately 3:30 p.m., which also affected power to
customers on Change Islands momentarily, a line crew was dispatched to investigate a
fault in the Change Islands Terminal Station. Once on site, crews were able to determine
that power could not be restored from the terminal station.

Further investigation is required of the distribution system on Fogo Island to determine
the cause of the outage. A crew has been dispatched to complete a line patrol by
ground this evening. Arrangements are also in place for an additional crew to complete
a line patrol by helicopter tomorrow morning if required.

Customers on Fogo Island should be prepared for a possible extended outage into
tomorrow. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Southern Labrador: By approximately 6:30 p.m., power was restored to all customers in
Southern Labrador. These customers are now receiving power from the main power
supply for this region.
