Outage Advisory: Power will be off overnight Sunday (Feb. 6) for some customers on Connaigre Peninsula

February 6, 2022

Update:

1:30 PM – Hydro is advising customers on the Connaigre Peninsula that power will remain off overnight again tonight (Sunday, February 6) for the following communities: Wreck Cove, Coombs Cove, St. Jacques, English Harbour West, Boxey, Belleoram and Mose Ambrose. For customers in Rencontre East and Poole’s Cove, crews are making repairs and may be able to restore power this evening, although an expected restoration time is currently unknown.

Following a helicopter patrol and further assessment this morning, crews identified significant damage to the power line, poles and equipment in the area. Approximately 20 cross arms are broken on utility poles, and there is significant ice build-up (approximately 2-3 inches) on the power lines.  Crews will continue to safely make repairs throughout the day and are working as quickly as possible, however these conditions are slowing the work required. Extra crews are also being dispatched to ensure work can continue through the night.

While estimated restoration for all repairs is unknown at this time, customers should be prepared to be without power until at least noon tomorrow (Monday, February 7).

Please check our website and social media regularly for updates on repairs and estimated restoration times.

We know that extended outages are challenging for everyone. We sincerely appreciate our customers’ understanding during this time as we work to safely make repairs in the area.
