Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising our customers in Port Hope Simpson that a failed transformer is the cause of the power outage which has been ongoing since about 1:00 PM.

A spare transformer is now on the way from Cartwright. When the transformer arrives, crews will immediately begin work to install. Current estimation to complete work and fully restore power is 8:00AM tomorrow.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Crews will work as quickly and safely as possible.
