January 19, 2013 – Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is reporting power outages to customers in the area of L’Anse-aux-Loup to Red Bay in Southern Labrador.
Customers in this area receive power from a Hydro-Quebec generating plant, and the line providing power to customers from this plant has tripped. Hydro crews are currently in the process of bringing customers back slowly by using its diesel generators.
Hydro is also currently in the process of brining a back-up mobile generator online in order to restore customers.
A specific restoration time is unknown at this time, however groups of customers in this region will slowly begin to have power restored over the next several hours.
