Power Emergency in Effect

Newfoundland and Labrador (Hydro) is advising customers that we currently in a Power Emergency.

Units 1 and 3 at the Holyrood Thermal Generating Plant are currently offline. Unit 3 is expected to be returned to service this morning and Unit 1 will be back online by mid-afternoon. The Combustion Turbine at Holyrood is providing power to the grid.

Newfoundland Power is rotating power and customers are asked to conserve electricity at this time.

Please reduce heat, reduce use of appliances and hot water and turn off unnecessary lighting.
