Hydro is advising customers in the following communities on the Baie Verte peninsula that power is expected to remain off overnight tonight (September 1, 2022): Westport, Purbeck’s Cove, Coachman’s Cove, Fleur de Lys, Ming’s Bight, Woodstock, Pacquet, Brent’s Cove, Snooks Arm, Round Harbour, La Scie, Tilt Cove, Shoe Cove, Nipper’s Harbour, Smith’s Harbour, Burlington, Middle Arm, and Harbour Round.

The outage currently affecting these customers is believed to be caused by damage to a powerline due to lightning. Attempts to restore power remotely this evening were unfortunately not successful, and we were not able to restore power for customers.

Our crews plan to patrol the line by helicopter at first light tomorrow morning, to further investigate and complete any repairs needed to safely restore power.

We know that extended outages are difficult for customers. Please stay safe – remember to only operate generators outdoors, use flashlights instead of candles, and check in with your friends and family.
