Notice to Customers on the Avalon: Power Watch in Effect
January 6, 2016
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising customers that one of three generating units at the Holyrood plant is being taken offline for a necessary repair.
All other available generating units will be online to meet customer demand and there are no outages expected at this time. However, Hydro is forecasting high customer demand during peak periods today (7:00 – 9:00 a.m and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.).
As a result, there is a Power Watch in effect for the Avalon Peninsula ONLY. No immediate action is required for customers, however the electricity system on the Avalon is being monitored closely and Hydro is working with Newfoundland Power to meet customer electricity needs. The utilities will advise customers of any changes.
Although a conservation request is not currently in effect, customers are being asked to be prepared to conserve in the event of a status change. If you’d like to know how you can make a difference through conservation, visit our website here: https://nlhydro.com/customer-service/energy-savings/takecharge-program/
This advisory is part of Hydro’s ongoing commitment to keep customers informed on the status of the electricity system and significant system events.
