ADVISORY: Labrador West – Planned Outages on June 13 and September 12

May 18th, 2021

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is advising customers in Labrador West of two scheduled power outages for the region.

The first outage is scheduled for Sunday, June 13, 2021 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This will affect all customers in Labrador City, Wabush and surrounding areas (including IOC and Tacora Resources). The outage is required in order to perform critical annual maintenance at the Wabush terminal station and in Churchill Falls, and complete upgrades to the distribution system in Labrador West.

A second planned outage is currently scheduled for Sunday, September 12. Further details regarding this second outage will be confirmed and communicated soon. All details will be provided on Hydro’s website, Facebook and Twitter and shared with customers once the schedule has been finalized.

We understand the impact that these interruptions have on customers and we thank you for your understanding as we complete required system maintenance and upgrades. Hydro’s annual maintenance season generally begins in April, when electricity demand starts to decline, and extends to November in preparation for winter, and it is critical to ensuring necessary maintenance work is completed to provide safe, reliable service.
