Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) is advising customers that Unit 2 at the Holyrood plant will not be taken out of service this evening and a Power Watch is no longer required for the Avalon Peninsula.
Initial assessment indicated the unit would have to be taken offline for several days this week to complete repairs. However, further examination this evening led to an alternative solution which allowed the affected equipment to be removed from service and enabled the generating unit to stay online. Hydro will advise if there are any changes.
As previously noted, Holyrood Unit 3 is offline for routine scheduled maintenance as our annual maintenance period – which runs from April until November – is currently underway
This advisory is part of Hydro’s ongoing commitment to keep customers informed on the status of the electricity system and significant system events.
