Todd Russell, Nunatukavut President and Niamh Roche of Nunacor joined Hydro President & CEO Jennifer Williams on Sept 9, 2022 to officially open Labrador’s first EV fast charger.

There was big news in the Big Land earlier this month, as Hydro unveiled the first public fast-charger for electric vehicles in Labrador.

The charger, located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, is the first of three new charging sites planned to come online in Labrador this fall. Charging sites in Labrador

City and Churchill Falls are currently in the final commissioning stages and expected to be available in the coming weeks.

The addition of the EV charger in Happy Valley-Goose Bay represents an important milestone, supports a sustainable future for the province and helps pave the way for more chargers in Labrador to be installed over time.

To celebrate, on September 9th representatives from Hydro, Nunacor Development Corporation and NunatuKavut Community Council, officially plugged an electric Hydro vehicle into the new charger, located at the Royal Inn and Suites.
