Automated Meter Reading Program

Hydro is always looking for ways to improve how we work to better meet our customers’ expectations. In 2023, we began a meter replacement program that will provide all of our customers with new meters that can be read remotely. The new meters still require the services of a meter reader in the area but instead of needing to access customer’s property to read the meter, our meter readers will be equipped to gather the meter reading by travelling near the property.

What’s next?
Throughout 2024 many meters will be changed by Hydro representatives, who will attempt to notify customers in person before completing the replacement. In most cases the replacement only takes a few minutes to complete, but the power will be interrupted during that time.

How can you help?

  • Please ensure your meter is accessible and not obstructed by siding or other materials.
  • Please have a look at the meter equipment and determine if there is any rust, corrosion or other issue that needs to be addressed before the meter is replaced.
  • If your meter is not accessible from outside, please ensure someone is able to provide access to our representative.
