We’re All Charged Up!

Hydro is actively working to bring the province more in line with electric vehicle accessibility levels seen across the country. We believe that an EV fast charging network would have several benefits for Newfoundland and Labrador. Enabling EV owners to travel long distances across the island portion of the province will remove one of the largest barriers for consumers to domestic EV ownership. The market is changing with more choice available and coming, bringing opportunity for savings in fuel costs. As well, increased domestic ownership of electric vehicles will help to reduce carbon emissions and support electrification efforts in the province. Also, a fast charging network has the potential to increase vehicle based tourism to the province. We’re excited to advance this initiative which recently received unanimous support from the House of Assembly. We look forward to sharing more information soon.
