Megawatts (MW) / Megawatt-Hours (MWh)

« Back to Glossary Index

Megawatts are used to describe electrical power production while Megawatt-Hours are used to describe electrical power consumption (to measure the amount of power you use). For example, our Bay d’Espoir Hydroelectric Generating Station can generate 604 MW of power while it takes approximately 33.33 megawatt-hours (MWh) to power a home for one month.
