UPDATE 9:30AM – Equipment outage delayed by approximately three hours due to a temporary issue with the back-up gas turbine.  Work beginning at 9:00AM.

Due to heavy load on the system, customers in North West River will be impacted for the duration of the work.  We apologize for this interruption in service.  This is important maintenance work that must be completed as we prepare for the winter season.

—————————————————————–

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro will be performing equipment maintenance on a transmission line which runs between Churchill Falls and Happy Valley Goose Bay on Sunday, October 18 between 6:00am and 2:00pm.

All work is planned in such a way as to minimize impact on our customers. Therefore, the Happy Valley Goose Bay gas turbine will be online and available to provide back-up electricity service to customers in the area.

In the event that system loads are higher than anticipated and all customers cannot be supplied by the gas turbine; customers from Goose River Bridge up to and including North West River will loose power for the remainder of the outage period.

There will also be an 8 hour outage in the Community of Sheshatshiu on October 18th from 6:00am to 2:00pm to make necessary repairs to the distribution system in the community. This outage will only effect the community of Sheshatshiu and is unrelated to the equipment outage scheduled for Happy Valley Goose Bay and surrounding area for the same day.

This is important equipment maintenance, necessary to ensure continued service reliability. Thank you for your patience.
