Updated: Equipment Advisory – Holyrood Unit 2

Unit 2 at the Holyrood Thermal Generating Plant remains out of service and now has an estimated return date of Feb 5. The unit is not currently required to support customer load, therefore crews are taking this time to complete additional work. Hydro has sufficient reserves to reliably serve customers.

Previous Advisory: Jan 21, 2015
Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (Hydro) wishes to update customers that repairs have begun on Unit 2 at the Holyrood Thermal Generating Station. Reserves are forecast to be adequate over then coming days and there is no anticipated impact to the electricity supply we can provide to our customers.

All other generating units on the Avalon Peninsula, including the two other thermal generating units at the Holyrood plant, as well as the combustion turbine, are fully available for service.

The unit will undergo a further repair to boiler reheat tubes, along with some additional inspections over the coming week. Hydro will be monitoring the electricity system closely and expects the unit to be returned to service and fully available by next weekend.

This advisory is part of Hydro’s commitment to keep customers informed on the status of the electricity system and system events. For updates, please follow Hydro on social media – www.Twitter.com/NLHydro, www.Facebook.com/NLHydro or visit us online at www.nlhydro.com
