One of the three generating units at our Holyrood thermal plant is now offline. Unit #3 was removed from service to begin its annual planned maintenance.

There is no anticipated impact to customers as a result of this unit being off.

Hydro’s annual maintenance season typically begins in April when customer electricity demand begins to decline, and extends into late Fall. During this time, Hydro maintains, replaces and upgrades electricity equipment throughout the province. Generation units and transmission lines will be removed from service for periods of time in order to complete the work. These yearly planned outages are closely monitored and coordinated to ensure customer supply and system reserve requirements are met.
