PLAN YOUR ROUTE
Charging your EV.
An EV contains a rechargeable battery which powers an electric motor for propulsion. EVs can be recharged by plugging into the electricity grid – at home or on the road.
Our network of 14 charging locations from St. John’s to Port aux Basques enables EV users to drive across the island without having to worry about where to plug in next. EV users have access to public fast chargers at convenient locations on average every 70km along the TCH, as well as one charger in Gros Morne National Park. The network connects the province with the established network of fast-charging stations throughout Canada. And this is just the beginning!

Any experienced EV driver will tell you that it takes some planning to make for a carefree trip. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Expect the unexpected.
Things like using continuous air conditioning or heating, very cold weather, and steep hills can decrease your range. Even with fast chargers located every 70 km on the TCH, it’s important to think about your trip in advance so you can better plan your stops along the way.
Plan your route.
It’s best to plan your route and mark where you will be stopping to re-charge, just like you would plan where to have lunch or refuel. Before you hit the road, be sure to check the status of our chargers online or through the ChargePoint app.
