Electric Vehicle Rebate Program Application

The EV Rebate Program offers a rebate of $2,500 to eligible individuals, businesses and municipalities for:

  • The purchase or lease (minimum 48 months) of a new 100% all-electric vehicle.
  • The purchase of a pre-owned 100% all-electric vehicle.

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) or electric bikes are not eligible.Rebates are available on a first come, first serve basis to approved applicants. Funding is limited, so be sure to get your application in quickly.

Program Eligibility

To qualify for the rebate:

  • You must be a permanent resident or a business, not-for-profit or municipality in Newfoundland and Labrador.*
  • The new or used 100% all-electric vehicle must be purchased between May 31, 2021 and March 15, 2022.
  • Applications will be accepted from September 1, 2021 to March 15, 2022.
  • Vehicle must be intended for personal/business/not-for-profit/municipal use in Newfoundland and Labrador.

*This rebate is being offered as part of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Climate Change Action Plan. Eligible applicants must be a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador, a business, non-profit organization, or municipality in the province that is connected to the island interconnected grid or the Labrador interconnected electricity grid.

Eligible Electric Vehicles

  • Purchase or lease (minimum of 48 months) of a new** 100% all-electric vehicle.
  • Purchase of a used 100% all-electric vehicle.

Please Note:

  • Vehicles must be registered in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Vehicles must be purchased from a licensed vehicle dealership located in Canada. Tesla’s are eligible. Person-to-person sales that do not include a vendor are not eligible.

** For a vehicle to be considered new, it must be constructed entirely from new parts that have not been the subject of a retail sale and have less than 10,000 km.

How to Apply

Once you have purchased your EV, complete the application form below, filling in all required fields.

When you have completed the form, upload supporting documents as required. Submit your application by selecting “Submit Rebate Application Now” at the bottom of this page.

Note: The rebate cheque will be mailed to the address provided.

Email is the preferred form of communication and will speed up processing of your rebate. If you do not have an email address, you may list the email of a family member. If listed below, you are authorizing us to communicate with them on your behalf.

Applications that do not include all required information could result in a processing delay and possible denial of your application.
